Starting from Rialto, we can visit the San Polo and Dorsoduro sestieri or neighborhoods. We pass the fish market and the Ca' Rampane, (the old prostitute, red-light district). From here, we arrive at the Frari: an immense Franciscan church where important paintings by Titian, Giovanni Bellini and Vivarini are kept. The tombs for the doge, Francesco Foscari, Titian and Canova are also located here. After this, we visit the Scuola Grande di San Rocco, a religious institute that lies behind the imposing Gothic church, where we can enjoy the artistic and religious spirit of Tintoretto.
From Campo Santa Margherita, we go to Ca' Rezzonico, a palazzo where the Eighteenth Century Venetian Museum is located. We pass through San Trovaso, where you can admire a squero, the boatyard (one of two remaining in Venice) where gondolas are still repaired and built according to tradition. From this point, the Zattere are very close. Here you can enjoy a wonderful view to the Giudecca and admire the frescoes by Tiepolo in the Santa Maria del Rosario Church, named and managed by the Venetian Jesuit Order.
